Suara.com – As many as 10 thousand employees of PT Pertamina will take part in a strike initiated by the United Pertamina Workers Union Federation or FSPPB starting Wednesday (29/12) tomorrow.
The threat of strike action by the FSPPB at a number of strategic points risks hampering PT Pertamina’s business activities, including the issue of fuel distribution.
Professor of Manpower Law at the University of Indonesia, Aloysius Uwiyono, said that unions should not only make demands aggressively, but should also open up about all settlement efforts that have been taken by the state-owned company.
“The unions should not only demand but also open their hearts. If possible, the strike will not be carried out, so it must be deliberation to reach a consensus,” said Aloysius to reporters, Tuesday (28/12/2021).

He added that this action also risks harming workers who are members of the FSPPB. This is because if the company is unable to operate, it will have a large enough effect due to the obstruction of oil supply.
“It must have disrupted the supply of oil because their demonstrations didn’t work. The distribution of oil was also hampered,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Federation of Trade Unions or FSP BUMN Bersatu assessed that the threat of a strike posted by the FSPPB was counterproductive and risked hampering the process of national economic recovery.
The reason is, Pertamina is a state-owned company that has a vital role in the country’s economy. In addition, Pertamina’s business operations are also related to the lives of many people.
Thus, the threat of a strike is detrimental to most of Pertamina’s workers and threatens the sustainability of the community’s businesses, which have had multiple effects from the company’s business.
