Commentator Shim Jae-hak as the new head of the KIA

The professional baseball KIA announced on the 8th that it had appointed Shim Jae-hak (51), a commentator for MBC Sports Plus, as the new general manager in the position that had become vacant due to the dismissal of former general manager Jang Jeong-seok. Shim graduated from Chungam High School and Korea University, worked for LG, Hyundai, and Doosan before retiring from KIA in 2008. After taking his first steps as a leader at Heroes in 2009, Shim has served as a commentator since 2019. He also served as national team quality control coach (data analysis) and hitting coach in the last World Baseball Classic (WBC). A KIA official introduced, “Shim experienced both batter and pitcher during his professional days, and has a high understanding of baseball while working as a coach and commentator.” Shim promised to “play baseball for the fans and create a team that the fans can understand.”

K-League 1 Suwon Samsung Manager Kim Byeong-soo inaugurated

On the 8th, coach Kim Byung-soo (53), newly appointed by the Suwon Samsung professional football team, held an inauguration ceremony at the Samsung Clubhouse in Suwon, Hwaseong, Gyeonggi-do, and started rebuilding the team in earnest. Director Kim said, “We are in a very difficult and frightening situation.” In the 2023 season, Suwon fell to the bottom with 1 win, 2 draws and 8 losses (5 points), and is in a position to worry about relegation. In response, coach Kim said, “It’s too early to say hope, but I have faith that the players will achieve it.” Coach Kim will make his debut in a home game against Ulsan Hyundai at Suwon World Cup Stadium on the 10th.
