[단독]Trying to withdraw cash from the bank… Arrested as wanted 30 billion tax portal

January 13, 2021

A man in his 60s, who had been wanted for not paying 30 billion won of tax, was caught by the police while trying to withdraw cash from a bank.

The Yangcheon Police Station in Seoul announced on the 13th that “Mr. A (62), who had been wanted for violation of the Tax Offender Penalty Act since May last year, was arrested and investigated on the 8th.”

According to the police, Mr. A is accused of not paying tax of about 30 billion won by operating a supplier of agricultural and fishery products in Incheon for about two years from 2014 and by making false tax invoices. The Seoincheon Tax Office accused Mr. A to the police earlier last year, but it was difficult to find the whereabouts.

Mr. A, whose whereabouts were obvious, was caught at a bank in Yangcheon-gu, Seoul on the 8th. At around 1 PM, I tried to withdraw cash from an automated teller machine (ATM), but the account was registered as a fraudulent account, so a report was automatically filed with the police. The police, who were dispatched in three minutes, arrested Mr. A at the scene. A police official said, “It was not easy to identify the suspect because all of the bank’s internal customers are wearing masks, but Mr. A’s hair style was rather peculiar, so we could catch it. Mr. A is currently accused of fraud under the Weighted Punishment Act for specific economic crimes at the Muju Police Station in Jeonbuk. A police official said, “After the investigation of Mr. A, I handed over the recruits to the military officer.”
