Обзор JBL Reflect Flow Pro

At the end of 2021, the JBL brand presented new TWS headphones in Russia called JBL Reflect Flow Pro. As far as I understand, this model is aimed at those who are engaged in active sports: here you have a special mount with an ear rest, and protection from water / dust, and the inclusion of the function of listening to the environment.

In addition, Reflect Flow Pro is equipped with active adaptive noise canceling thanks to three microphones in each of the headphones. By the way, each earphone can work separately. As a bonus, the case is equipped with Qi wireless charging technology. The status of the battery can be easily observed by the strip on the case, the glow of which indicates the battery charge.

By the way, JBL released Reflect Flow headphones in 2019. They had a smaller emitter, lacked ANC technology and something else on the smallest detail.

JBL Reflect Flow Pro headphones are not cheap – almost 9,000 rubles.

Case appearance

To begin with, you should decide on the colors. There are four of them for this model: pink, black, blue and white. I had the last option on my review. I would call it beige, not white.

The case is quite large by modern standards for TWS headphones – 70x40x35 mm. And it weighs a lot – almost 80 grams. In addition, a strap is attached to the lower back of the case (it matches the color of the case). Probably, the idea is as follows: the strap is present due to the fact that a large case will be located somewhere in the backpack, and just by the “string” it will be easy to remove it. And in general, in general, a convenient thing. For example, I have a JBL GO speaker with the same strap. My daughter constantly carries an accessory just for a cool strap.

The case resembles a keg, from which the back, front and bottom parts have been cut off.

JBL is written on the top in large letters. The downside is that the inscription was applied to the case with some kind of finely dispersed material and literally in a day it was almost erased. A very strange decision. Then it was necessary either to squeeze out the inscription, or to make it volumetric due to the material of the case.

The case is, of course, made of plastic. Part of the front side is light beige, everything else is beige plastic.

Materials and assembly are good, there is nothing to complain about especially.

On the frontal plane there is an indicator of the battery charge of the case. According to it, you can roughly understand that the case is discharged, fully charged or half charged. Glows white dim light.

At the back there is the usual USB-C connector for wired charging of the case and a round flat mechanical button for pairing with a smartphone.

Total: non-compact, weighty case on a “string”; good build, erasable lettering.

Headphone appearance

To open the lid of the case, you need to apply more force than is usually done to open lids in other TWS devices. It is fixed in the extreme position and does not play, it does not close itself.

Thank you for the fact that the case, after opening, provides easy and convenient access to the headphones: your fingers do not touch the cover when removing the headphones.

The headphones are also quite large, probably due to the IP68 protection and the capacious battery. They are made in the color of the case.

In my case, the front part was edged with a silver plastic insert. The rest is beige.

The set contains additional ear pads (called POWERFINS), which fit snugly to the auricle. A really handy thing that prevents the headphones from flying out during active sports.

Each earbud is equipped with three microphones: one for talking, one for picking up a signal from the environment, and one inside the device.

On the inside of the headphones, you can see a compensation hole, an operation indicator and a proximity sensor (it is necessary in order to pause while playing music when you take the earphone out of your ear).

Left earphone:

  • One touch – toggle ANC, Ambient aware and disable these two technologies;
  • Two touches – Talkthru;
  • During a call – two touches: pick up and hang up the “receiver”, long hold turns off the microphone;
  • Long hold asks for voice assistant.

Right earpiece:

  • One touch – play / pause;
  • Two touches – next track;
  • Three touches – previous track;
  • During a conversation – two touches: pick up and hang up the “receiver”, long hold turns off the microphone;
  • Long hold asks for voice assistant.

Buttons can be reassigned in the JBL Headphones app.

Landing in the auricle

For a more comfortable use, I had to use larger ear cushions than the default ones. Powerfins left the regular ones.

At first there was a feeling that the headphones could fall out, but later I got used to this feeling. In fact, Reflect Flow Pro is held in the auricle securely and quite comfortably. But I prefer in-ear headphones. You can listen to music in them for longer.

About the sound

Before you headphones with dynamic emitters with a diameter of 6.8 mm. At a cost of 9,000 rubles, the size is small. Frequency response is normal – 20 Hz – 20,000 Hz. Supported codecs are SBC and AAC only. I don’t understand why JBL still doesn’t release headphones with aptX or LDAC. Obviously, this is good even from a marketing point of view.

To unleash the potential of Reflect Flow Pro, make the sound volume as high as possible.

  • Volume. Relatively high. I would like to have a little headroom. Most likely, they did not add it due to the presence of ANC technology.
  • Virtual stage. For JBL, it is traditionally very wide, slightly less in height and depth. You can easily distinguish the location of the instruments.
  • Bass. It is expressed dimly and enters when necessary. However, when you turn on the noise reduction somewhere around 40-60 Hz, it still rises. I don’t know if this is good or bad. But here’s a fact.
  • Medium frequencies. Very good, clean. Voices are transmitted without problems.
  • High frequencies. They are on the edge, as they say. A little more – and there will be a lot of them. But I liked this sound processing.

Separately, it is worth noting the cool transmission of the sounds of percussion instruments, hi-hats stand out pleasantly. The sound is biting, elastic, not smeared, natural. Everything is fine and with sound detail.

Probably, Reflect Flow Pro cope with dynamics a little worse. However, it should be understood that these are single-driver headphones.

Noise cancellation works as usual for JBL headphones of this class: you should not expect 100% suppression of all sounds from them, but they cope well with street and office noise. Metro, public transport – no.

In the JBL Headphones app, you can select the Russian voice as voice alerts. Surely this was before, for the first time I chose Russian in the settings. It’s nice to hear native speech in headphones.

The device supports Fast Pair technology, so it is not necessary to go into the Bluetooth settings of your smartphone to create a pair. The idea is this: you open the lid of the case – and Android prompts you to connect. All new JBL devices work with Fast Pair.

(-42 dB reached the diagram when the headphones were 5 meters away from the smartphone, two reinforced concrete partitions)

As a headset

The interlocutor hears you loudly, quite clearly and legibly. Sometimes there is a speakerphone effect.

Each earbud is equipped with an 85mAh battery. This is a very large battery for TWS earbuds. The case is equipped with a 540 mAh battery.

Without ANC, Reflect Flow Pro can be squeezed out for 10 hours. With noise canceling, you get 2 hours less. In any case, the headphones work for a very long time.

The accessory can be charged both over the wire for 1.5 hours and wirelessly for two hours (the device supports the Qi standard).

JBL Reflect Flow Pro headphones are recommended for those who need devices that can operate in high humidity and dusty conditions (including the ability to wash in the shower without removing the headphones). Probably, you can even swim with this model, but the manufacturer does not say anything about this.

  • Large case
  • Average quality noise reduction
  • Wedging into the sound of ANC technology

From the pros:

  • Great sound
  • Long battery life
  • IP68 protection
  • Wireless charger

Let me remind you that JBL Reflect Flow Pro will cost you 9,000 rubles. The price for this type of device and parameters is quite adequate.
